   Breed: Belgian Shepherd Tervuren Mix
   Gender: Male
   Age: 10 yrs. 10 mo.  Birthday: 10/2011 (est)
   Weight: Medium (30 - 60 pounds)
   Milo ID: 28268
   Current Location: The Milo Sanctuary
Kobe is new to Milo, one of three dogs surrendered by a woman whose uncle owned them and recently died. It took quite some doing to find a group willing and able to save these dogs from going to the Animal Shelter. Her uncle made no provisions for the dogs while he lived. Kobe and his kids.

Please, make plans for your pets for when you can no longer care for them. * SURRENDER NOTES*

Kobe is obedient and is a good listener. He knows basic commands like sit and shake. He gets a bit shy/ nervous around strangers. He has lived with other dogs in his pack but has had limited socialization with other dogs and kids.

   Breed: Australian Cattle Dog
   Gender: Male
   Age: 5 yrs. 9 mo.  Birthday: 10/2016 (est)
   Weight: Medium (30 - 60 pounds)
   This dog has special needs.
   Milo ID: 28259
   Current Location: The Milo Sanctuary
A conflicted little Cattledog, a bit meek at first in the shelter/kennel environment, but in a car and in a home he is much more comfortable and of course out walking.... he is observant and curious, dog and cat friendly - a great dog for adults with another pack leader dog he can glom onto... people who are breed savvy and who have the time to include their cattledog in a lot of daily activities and adventures.

From the person who rescued Barley: "Dear Friends, I am the person, together with my friend, who rescued Barley Coron in Salinas (I named him Buddy, and after a while he responded to that name).

Buddy was left to fend for himself in my neighborhood, where we and some of our loving, compassionate neighbors left food and water for him. In time Buddy followed my dog and I to our house and we slowly gained his trust. Every time he saw us, he would run to us but stayed at a safe distance.

Eventually, he felt trusting enough to come into my house. My family decided it was not safe for him to be on his own on the street, as a neighbor had told me that he had seen someone shoot Buddy with a BB gun. One day when Buddy entered the house I closed the door, and my friend phoned a friend of hers, who took him to her house. After five days, Buddy was returned to us, but because we live in a townhouse and it was clear that he needed a place where he could run, we decided to take him to the shelter.

We fell in love with buddy, but we just couldn't give him the forever home he needed. I was so worried that the shelter would put Buddy down if they couldn't find him a home or a no-kill rescue to take him. My friend was proactive in working with the person at the shelter to ensure Buddy was placed with an organization that knew his breed.

~~~~~~~Barley Corn is not readily available - he has minimal bite inhibition and can not live in an urban or even suburban environment!
He is not a great working dog either, but a good ranch buddy. No kids, he loves most other dogs.~~~~~~~~~~
**Please know this breed before applying. And also be ready for a real project!! He has come out of his shell, but with that he is now nipping, a strong “keep away” order on his part. This is a smart, insecure, sensitive boy. Cattle dogs are a big package in a small, agile tidy body - but they need lots of stimulation and activity EVERY DAY - and a lonely, bored cattle dog is not a good thing....for anyone.
$400 adoption fee.
   Breed: Siberian Husky - Wolf Dog Mix
   Gender: Male
   Age: 5 yrs. 5 mo.  Birthday: 2/2017 (est)
   Weight: Large (60 - 90 pounds)
   Milo ID: 28163
   Current Location: The Milo Sanctuary
One of a pair of hybrid type fellows who arrived via a small rescue in the Sacramento area. These are truly delightful creatures who just love romping and playing in the wooded hills at our Sanctuary! They have two delightful girlfriends in their pack and the foursome immediately took to each other like long lost friends (or family members!)
Blue-eyed Sinatra is not a dog who chooses human company, though he is sweet, sensitive, curious and does engage, but chooses dogs over humans. We respect that choice and give him and the others the time and a big space to call home - eventually in the right circumstances with the right kinds of people and other dog(s) we can consider placing them, or they'll stay here and have their friends and good food and a happy life!
One of a pair of hybrid type fellows who arrived via a small rescue in the Sacramento area. Cysco is smaller and likely perhaps to be part Coyote. These are truly delightful creatures, playful and silly, who just love romping and playing in the wooded hills at our Sanctuary!    Breed: Australian Cattle Dog - American Staffordshire Terrier Mix
   Gender: Male
   Age: 4 yrs. 10 mo.  Birthday: 9/2017 (est)
   Weight: Medium (30 - 60 pounds)
   Milo ID: 28047
   Current Location: The Milo Sanctuary
**My adoption fee is one half off! Adoption fee: $200.**
Johnny is an amazing boy! He is very social, happy, affectionate and loving. He will greet you with a big smile and non-stop tail wagging.
Such a sweet boy, he loves playing with other medium to large dogs - he's fine around small dogs but might be a tad too physical for some.
Johnny can be wary of strangers entering the home once he's bonded with his person / people and can't be left alone in a yard since he can jump a fence if he wants to. He's athletic and wants to be where the action is! Otherwise, he is great being crated when being left alone.
Johnny would love to go to an active and predictable home without too many unexpected visitors. He will do best in a no child household just because he is active, a little mouthy, and quite wiggly - but with dog savvy parents he should do well - but best case scenario is active fun-loving folks with the time to go out and play with their dog every day! This is a dog to lounge with, wrestle with - love on, and go have plenty of all kinds of adventures with.
**My adoption fee is one half off! Adoption fee: $200.**
   Weight: Medium (30 - 60 pounds)
   Milo ID: 27953
   Current Location: The Milo Sanctuary
Rescued from a hoarding situation in the desert outside of Bakersfield. She is a very shy girl who will be looking for a dedicated family or person really soon. Kimberly will need someone with shy dog experience, will need training on how to enjoy leash walking (since she lived her life off leash in the desert with 71 other dogs), and will be best in a home with another dog to build confidence to show affection towards her person. She is very dog social. She would love a more rural or suburban lifestyle as city life may be overwhelming.
   Name: TOMMY
TOMMY
   Breed: Domestic Short Hair
   Color:  White with black
   Gender: Male
   Age: 7 yrs. 11 mo.  Birthday: 8/2014 (est)
   Milo ID: 27930
   Current Location: The Milo Sanctuary
*Rescuer Notes* "Tommy was rescued after being dumped in Point Richmond. He is a dsh, 12.5 lbs, approx 4 y.o. and was neutered late July 2018. Although it’s possible he’s still unwinding from being a tomcat, because he does not seem feral (does not scramble to get out of the cage or flee when he was out on the deck one evening), he is quite wary of humans. I was able to touch him briefly yesterday, 8/20, but today he hissed.
Tommy appears in excellent health. Mostly white with black markings and a tabby tail, this handsome boy just wants to sit and relax somewhere safe. He has a very health appetite but has been too reserved (scared) does not seem motivated by treats."
   Name: MOCHI
ARTEMIS now MOCHI
   Breed: Domestic Short Hair
   Color:  White with black
   Gender: Male
   Age: 5 yrs. 5 mo.  Birthday: 2/2017 (est)
   Adoption Pending!
   Milo ID: 27929
   Current Location: The Milo Sanctuary
*Rescuer Notes* "Mochi was rescued in Point Richmond. He acts young in being very playful. He is happy chasing a ball or just finding a nice safe place to curl up and sleep. He eats a moderate amount of food. What he wants most is to be with you! He’s happy being a lap cat. And, you can pick him up and love him. He’s easy to handle and plays pretty gently for a boy his age. Mochi is white with black markings including his tail and “beauty mark” above his lip on the left side of his face."
   Weight: Medium (30 - 60 pounds)
   Milo ID: 27915
   Current Location: The Milo Sanctuary
Banks is ready to go home! This bubbly blond shepherd is super intelligent, friendly, and energetic. A natural athlete, his youthful energy and eager-to-please personality would make him a great fit in an active household. With consistency, patience, and love, he will make a great family pet and/or exercise buddy.
Banks would do best in a home with adults and kids over the age of 14. It is recommended that his future family has some experience with shepherds and their personality traits (namely: their intelligence and energy levels). A large, fenced yard is also required for his exercise needs. He needs stimulation, consistency, leadership, and lots of love!
One owner horse, very friendly, she perhaps has been picked on in the past and had a reputation for being a loaner, she is good w people, sweet, reasonably calm, but spirited, trained, loads into a trailer like a champ. Samba had a sarcoid tumor we had surgically removed at UC Davis (9/4/18). Sweet, active girl. Good in saddle, now at our Sanctuary.
Dutchess is a delightful companion, pasture pet, she's been ridden hard in her past. she is living at our Sanctuary and is one of our horses wanting a sponsorship! She is lovely and affectionate, 15 hand quarterhorse that is maybe part draft horse of some sort as she is built like a tank, with the most solid hind quarters!
Zoya's name means loving & caring, which she was for her puppies.
This sweet girl came from a hoarding situation in the desert outside of Bakersfield.
She is a very shy girl who was super sweet with her puppies.
Zoya will need training on how to enjoy leash walking since she lived her life off leash in the desert with 71 other dogs. She is very dog social.
She would love a more rural home with one of her mates and a well fenced yard. It will take her some good time to settle in to a home. She Absolutely can not be an only dog.
Now at our Sanctuary with seven of her companions.
Magic is a gorgeous AQHA Mare 15.2 hands. "She is friendly, calm, quiet and relatively easy to handle, but not a push over. She has been ridden on a ranch working cattle and loves her job and looks good doing it! Good feet, clean legs. Safe and sound. An extremely nice well bred horse, who wants to be a trail horse, pastured with other horses. She is dominant but not mean.
She is enjoying life at our Sanctuary, she has thrown a young trainer in the past at Bay Wood for no apparent reason we are told, but we are giving her a chance to recover from past drama or trauma and relax into being the fine horse she is!
