   Gender: Female
Age: 7 yrs. 6 mo.  Birthday: 7/2014 (est)
   Weight: Medium (30 - 60 pounds)
   Milo ID: 28396
   Current Location: Foster Care

*I absolutely cannot believe Monica is yet to find her forever home. Since joining me, she has settled in well and her original bio is spot on. She is cautious and calm, but I have not found her to be anxious or uneasy. She really is an "old soul" type of dog — a very serene and supportive companion — which is particularly meaningful at this time.

* *I understand Monica became quite melancholic in her kennel at Milo (won't we all understand that soon) and has been "comfort eating" to cope (don't we all understand that already). BUT Her spirits are up already — she loves little runs or going on multiple shorter walks throughout the day. She is responsive, walks great on leash and hasn't batted an eye-lid as we passed vocal neighborhood dogs or passers-by.

* *Although I fit the bio of a quiet female working from home, she was warm with three male colleagues when I packed up my office. When loading the car, she was initially calm, but became unsettled/vocal the more I went back and forth. I don't plan to verify her escape-tactics or separation anxiety mentioned below. Monica really is special and will be a wonderful partner-in-crime or partner-in-calm for the right person." See the new photos of her enjoying the fosters backyard.

"Monica is a mellow, easy-going, even temperament type dog. She is cautious so will need a patient person who will let her go at her own pace. She walks great on leash and is good with kids. Monica absolutely loves women and girls; she can tolerate being around men but bonds very well with women. Once she gets to know you she will greet you with happy barks and snuggles. She enjoys belly rubs, but is sensitive to touch so her human must be patient and willing to build up the trust between them. Once she trusts you, her loyalty and love is unwavering!

She does not like being contained so no crates for her - but she can tolerate an x-pen. She can play well with other dogs after a proper introduction, and prefers to be the only dog in the home. This adventurous girl will try to go out of open windows, so she will need monitoring around the home at first. She is house-broken and will let you know if she has to go, or is uncomfortable around a particular dog or person. Excellent communicator!

Monica's ideal home would be with a woman or female couple who stays at home or is retired. The home should be quiet and peaceful.

Monica does present separation anxiety when left home alone and sometimes can be destructive when trying to get out.

   Name: TITAN
More Photos
Breed: Rottweiler - Doberman Pinscher Mix
   Gender: Male
Age: 7 yrs. 9 mo.  Birthday: 4/2014 (est)
   Weight: Large (60 - 90 pounds)
Referral placement - adoption assisted by Milo.

   Milo ID: 28333
   Current Location: Foster Care
Titan is a very handsome Doberman/Rottweiler and is looking for a new home. He would love a place with room to roam and massive amounts of exercise.

He LOVES to chase sticks and rubber toys. We had him for 3 years on 20 acres of forest, where he was an excellent watchdog. Now that we live and work in town, we find he can't be left outdoors. Our yard is too small and he escapes within minutes to roam the neighborhood, scaring the postal worker.

Titan is not to be trusted around children. He dislikes affection and does not like people to bring their face near his. He is fine around cats, chickens and other pets.

His best talent is leaping and catching things in mid-air - he's quite gorgeous to watch and will play for hours. He also loves to swim, especially if it involves fetching.

*Ginger, AKA “Ginny-G” is being fostered by Milo director Lynne, near Milo Pt Richmond. She is ready for her special home that’s ready to help her transfer to a new life and loving people!

Ginger is a sweet wiggly girl albeit with some "issues," but she's making incredible strides...more social, more trusting and much less wiggly! She's good with other dogs, occasionally snarky but really fine, just a bit heady/controlling at times when pushed. She's a strong jumper and an escape artist, so living with another dog may help with that. She continues to be a bit skittish of sudden movement and loud noises, e.g., humans throwing balls with Chuck-its (she wants to attack the Chuck-it) or Frisbies and the loud rumbles of passing freight trains.

However, in the more wide open space of the MILO Sanctuary she runs freely over miles of trails and/or with 4x4 work vehicles like a Gazelle. Same is true on city trails where she is moving and not enclosed. She will still counter surf when she gets a chance and goes ”shopping” but the frequency has diminished greatly. She is now perfectly housetrained and shows no interest in chasing our cat!

Ginger curls up in a ball on the human bed or with another dog in a dog bed, and she stays close. She learned to "SIT" and "COME." "STAY" is still an opportunity especially when she's scared. She loves riding in cars She sits in the Milo van up front, sitting up straight taking in the world around her, a fine co-pilot. Full disclosure, probably best to crate her in car rides...too much of an opportunity to be fearful and try to eat her way out :-( but given her progress on so many fronts to date, this can likely be abated.

A ranch setting with lots of open space to run and an attentive human(s) with experience with Cattledogs and a fun loving pack, would probably be her best forever home, although she will be sorely missed here in our foster home! Last, she has a coat so shiny that nearly everyone she meets comment on it. This girl possesses strong and healthy genes. Previous foster notes: "Ginger is learning to have fun and is a joy to watch blossom.

She loves to roll on the carpet and prance to play. She was terrified when she first came to us but is quickly learning to trust us and enjoy her life. She clearly loves our 15 year old daughter so we would love for her to have a little girl of her own.

You'll need to take time to allow Ginger to explore her world slowly and build her trust in your family but she will be so worth it. She is a treasure.

Mama Ginger was a fantastic mom - patient and a meticulous care taker of her pups. But now Ginger is ready to be loved and cared for by her forever family. Ginger is so sweet. She loves nothing more than your attention and pets. She wags her whole body when you come to say hello. And she gives hugs!

Ginger had to learn that outside was safe and that every little noise or squirrel was not to be feared. Ginger is intrigued and fine with cats.

Ginger is getting used to leashes, she’s fine once on a leash but balls at the leash initially. She will follow you anywhere though once she learns to trust you.

Ginger is very smart, observant and attentive. She wants to please and is quick to figure out what you want or don’t want her to do. Her transfer from foster to adopter may well take a few meetings and slow transference, shared time.

Beautiful Harley! A horse that was going to be "sent away" down in Southern California - he was intended to be a mounted Police horse but the officer decided not to go that route so didn't want him any longer....

Harley is a great horse, needing to build muscle, firm up his soft feet, he is a good, friendly, handsome boy!

Harley is now in Novato in foster care doing very well!

Nugget is a Welsh Pony gelding, he is a Nugget! He and Pistol Pete are buds, and Nugget deserves sweet companions - he's been picked on a lot in his past, so needs to be with gentle, kind horses, or alone with people who love him. We're treating some of his minor wounds and such, he is a little sweetie and deserves love and TLC.

*Volunteer Notes* "Little Man is an an absolute sweet heart, handsome with soft, white fur and a touch of grey markings. He's a charming love bug, just needs a little coaxing to warm up yet brightens up when you come close, say his name and pet him. So once he does, be ready...he's an affectionate fella and loves belly rubs and to play with a feather toy! He is one of a kind, a gentle, sensitive soul who wants very much to relax in a home, to share his loving ways and be loved." Little Man was just surrendered to Milo with his companion, Mika. He is shy right now during this difficult transition and would do best in a home with Mika or another kitty. He is very sweet and gets along with cats and people. If you are interested in adopting or fostering him please email: info@Milofoundation.org.

Notes by Elle: Buffy Marié is a very intelligent senior kitty who communicates very well. She’s very interactive with all the animals around her. Interestingly she relates to everyone in the same way. The dogs, cats and humans all have the same ranking in her mind. She’s a very easy cat to live with. Never gets underfoot, non demanding, litter box perfect and in good health other than Asthma. She’s a calm, mature, adult kitty who loves to snooze, look out the window, snooze some more in her outside catio and eat. Did I say eat !! This girl is a foodie !! So if you serve a strict diet of anything dry pease look at a different bio. Buffy loves lean beef, all kinds of wet cat food, roast chicken and variety is the name of the game as long as it’s high quality and grain free. She’s 50/50 indoor, outdoor kitty. She loves everyone lately although that’s not always been the case. But she’s non aggressive and I’ve never seen her hissing or growling at anyone or any kitties or dogs. To the contrary she’s always trying to snuggle with any other animal or human around. She’s lovely to look at, especially when she’s primping and posing. A delightful and well mannered little lady. She does like being pampered and she’s good at getting what she wants in a very charming manner. She’s a tad independent at times just wanting to be left alone to do her “kitty thang”. For more information on Buffy please contact Sanctuarycats@milofoundation.org or call/text Elle at 415/350-0335

   Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier Mix

Age: 8 yrs. 3 mo.  Birthday: 10/2013 (est)

   Adoption Pending!
   Milo ID: 26351

**My adoption fee is one half off! Adoption fee: $200.**

FOSTER NOTES: “She’s done so well in Foster with me - she’s so calm, gentle and beginning to show her age outside of the kennel environment. She barked zero times despite the noise that accompanies city life in North Beach/Russian Hill in SF. Fully potty trained in the home - zero “accidents” in the house. I wish I could keep her permanently!!”

Miss Daisy LOVES PEOPLE! Great with kids 16+ years old! EXTREMELY AFFECTIONATE/SNUGGLY; Master’s in cuddling and companionship. Loves hiking, playing with and meeting people, chasing tennis balls and general physical activity, but equally enjoys snuggling up and lounging/snoozing on the couch.

Walks very well on leash with her harness or halti/gentle leader. Belly rub connoisseur. Food/treat-motivated, but also praise/affection-motivated. Contagious smile and spirit! Will need to be the ONLY PET in the home. HOUSE BROKEN/POTTY TRAINED! She loves people and does great on leash. She is protective when she sees another dog but when you encourage her, she begins to calm down, or if you walk the other way, she follows and ignores the dog. Loves to play fetch and tug. Loves to run around and always wants to go on walks. Would do better in a house with a yard than in an apartment."

Sweet Daisy currently suffers from mild-moderate separation anxiety (as many shelter dogs do), meaning ideally she will not be left alone in the home for more than 2-4 hours at a time. Daisy’s separation anxiety will very likely decrease/dissipate over time once she gains a stable environment/forever home (as many shelter, etc. dogs’ does).

This hilarious girl is the resident joker here at Milo PR. There’s so much personality packed into this beautiful AST girl! She’s incredibly talkative and expressive- not through barking, but rather a fairly extensive series of squeaks, playful squeals and “oinks” that are guaranteed to steal your heart. Don’t be too surprised if she stops for a “love break” when encountering people out on a walk- flopping down at their feet in hopes of a belly rub. A real sweetheart! She’s a stocky, soulful girl with an endless supply of love to give.

Daisy has training and knows basic commands, and loves to ride in the car. She enjoys going for walks and hiking out in the hills but is also very content just lounging around the house. Daisy is very selective with other dogs- she’s had a few friends over the years, but she’s not a fan of sharing her toys or food and for best success should live with a family where she can be the only pet in the home. What she lacks in relations with other dogs she makes up for in her abundant love for people! This beautiful grey and white girl will bring so much joy to the family she so desperately hopes to find!

Come meet the incredible Miss Daisy today at Milo Point Richmond!

One of a sweet group of cats that have been taken in over the past few years by a woman in Hollister who works for the police department and finds them dumped. Vetted and well cared for, now looking for homes!

Notes by Gail: Lilly is a very pretty, gentle girl. She is somewhat timid around other cats, male and female alike, and is easily intimidated even to the point of not getting to eat or use the cat box. She would do best in a home with another cat much like herself or as an only cat although she does like the frequent company of her human or another cat. When I realized that she wasn’t getting to eat or use the cat box, I tried putting her in a room by herself and she did not like that at all. I was finally able to pair her up with another little girl very much like Lilly and the two of them got along fine and were even beginning to be friends when I had to surrender Lilly.

Peter is a little love baby; a teddy bear cat you can hug and cuddle when ever you please. He’s always ready for some quality one on one but never pushy or demanding. He’s a big boy, very handsome and charming. He loves to be near his human whether sitting by you, or in your lap. He enjoys going outside now and then but would adjust to an indoor only living situation just as nicely. The main thing for Peter is to have a truly interactive relationship and to be an integral part of his people’s life. He loves be a part of things. He’s a very mellow, calm kitty who gets along very well with other cats and my 12 pound cat loving dog. 2 days around Peter and you will lose your heart to him forever. I adore him. There’s something very charismatic about Peter. He’s gorgeous to look at, an utterly adorable creature, with a fluffy short white coat that’s soft like a bunny coat. He’s a wise old soul type cat; well balanced, centered and confident. He’s very intelligent and tuned into his human. He’s a senior kitty who’d be a wonderful companion for anyone who’s mature and can offer him a stable, loving, calm home. He’s truly a great cat, unique unto himself.    Name: ABBY
More Photos
   Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier Mix
   Gender: Female
Age: 5 yrs. 8 mo.  Birthday: 4/2016 (est)
   Weight: Medium (30 - 60 pounds)
   Milo ID: 25976
   Current Location: Foster Care
Meet your new bundle of joy! Abby loves people and will bring endless joy, affection and laughter to her new family! Although it seems this sweet girl has never known the life she deserves and longs for, her spirit and love for people remains strong, hoping today will finally be the day her family comes to rescue and love her as unconditionally as she will love them! All Abby asks is to be the only pet in the home and in exchange we know she’ll provide the all the love and affection you could ever dream of! When originally tested, Abby did well with other medium-large dogs, but her extended stay in the shelter seems to have made her weary of other dogs (not uncommon given the close quarters, constant barking, and exposure to larger dog-aggressive doggies...). Once settled in in a home away from the stress and chaos of the shelter life, it’s possible that Abby could begin to let her guard down and learn to trust other doggies again. Introductions will need to be done properly and with the help of an experienced individual, like a trainer or Milo staff. Many people enjoy and are looking to have a single dog in the home, and for those people/families, Abby will make the perfect companion!

Abby is a compact, affectionate, active girl who enjoys walks, hiking, playing fetch, and especially snuggling up with her people, showering them in her love and sweet kisses. Abby loves kids and seems to recognize well that she needs to play more gently with them. She’s a natural family girl and wants nothing more than to be with you.

Please consider fostering or adopting this sweet, loving, adorable girl today at Milo Foundation Sanctuary!

*Rescuer Notes* 9/28/17 "Abby doesn't have an extra survival story. She's not a hurricane victim. She wasn't lucky enough to have a great family before some disaster struck. She probably never had it that good. This little girl just showed up on my door step one day, clearly having just had puppies, and was dumped. She roamed the street for a couple days shying away from strangers. And who could blame her. I put food out for her and she came closer. After that she didn't leave my yard. One day I fed her out of my hand and it was all over!

All she needed was someone to show her love. After that she was jumping into my arms to give me hugs and kisses and chasing my car down the street because she just wanted to hang out with me. She is a very sweet dog, desperately seeking her "person" or family to call her own. She is great off leash and will just follow you around. She is great in the car. She'll just jump in and sit or lay down calmly. She was not in my house so I don't know if she's house trained. She was fine around my kids and knew quickly they were part of the pack and would go up to them tail wagging. She is protective of her house and people and very loyal! She noticed the difference between neighbors and people who were unfamiliar on the street. She would love to be in the house as well as outside. When I went in she wanted to go in with me!

Basically, she's a very sweet dog who just needs to find someone who will love her as Unconditionally as she will love them! She hasn't had it easy. She had a pretty big following of people networking to keep her out of the shelter and finally made it to rescue! Please give Abby a second chance at a great life!"

   Name: BRODY
More Photos
   Breed: Pug - Chihuahua Mix
   Gender: Male
Age: 11 yrs. 2 mo.  Birthday: 11/2010 (est)
Weight: Small (less than 30 pounds)
   Milo ID: 25930
   Current Location: Foster Care

Brody bonds with his favorite person and gets along with the others in their life. He loves to have someone play with him and his toys, tugging, throwing, and chasing him. He likes to go out on walks. He does not like it when his halter is initially put on in the house. Special “Spot Farm” treats have changed him to not mind getting the halter put on, but he skulks in it inside the house. Once outside walking, he doesn’t mind it at all. He walks every day with a neighbor Chihuahua.

Brody is happy when his family members come home and greets them with a wagging tail, some barking and dancing. He will “sing” when you have him on your lap and howl like a coyote. He is crate trained and doesn’t need to get up early to be let out in the morning. He will adjust to your sleeping schedule. When he first came to his foster home, he would bite, hold, and tug on your pant leg, I think because he was unsure of the situation. He rarely does this anymore, but if he looks like he is going to start we tell him “bed” and he will stop and go into his crate. Love him and he will love you right back.

Brody is house trained and has lived in a home with a cat.

*Foster Notes* 10/27/17 "Brody bonded very quickly to me, the person that walks and feeds him. He has to warm up to everyone else very slowly and his introduction must be repeated several times. He likes his crate and goes into it by himself when he is tired. He loves to play tug and will fetch, but not drop the toy yet. So far he only plays with me, the others are still a little scary for him and he gets protective of the toys. He takes treats gently from everyone. He walks well on leash and gets along with other dogs. He wants very much to please so he takes direction well. He will protect his person and his territory, so this needs work. He would be good in a home where everyone is calm and willing to give him time to adjust."
