SANCTUARY POSITIONS:
SANCTUARY CARETAKER The Milo Sanctuary is looking for candidates for a sanctuary caretaker to join our team. Applicants must be capable of handling a variety of issues with animals and people, able to work both as a team and individually, be self-sufficient, able to work outdoors for many hours in all weather conditions, and committed to the care and happiness of our dog and cat population. Previous animal care experience, excellent communication skills, and attention to detail are essential, and a background in animal rescue and care of animals from animal shelters, disease control and medications, vaccinations, testing, etc. would be ideal. The ideal candidate would also be able to follow direction and show initiative when needed, work well under stressful and physically demanding situations, work various shifts and holidays, and have a genuine love for the animals and the outdoors. Housing may be provided for the right candidate. Becoming a full time caretaker is more of a lifestyle choice than a job, in the traditional sense. It is energy consuming, and can be very intense; yet it is also very rewarding, in ways that go far beyond monetary value. Duties will include but are not limited to the following: feeding dogs/cats, cleaning enclosures, administering medications, general maintenance and cleaning of the facilities, and monitoring and maintaining the health of our dogs and cats. Applicants chosen as potential candidates will interview in person or over the phone with the sanctuary management team, and be required to volunteer at the sanctuary for three days. Working at the Milo Sanctuary in Willits has a dual purpose: it is important that you understand the true nature of the sanctuary caretaker position, and it is important for Milo to make sure that you have the necessary skills to complete the assigned duties. If you are chosen for a sanctuary visit, we will provide you with further useful information that will help make your stay at Milo more pleasant and rewarding.
Employment with the Milo Foundation will commence with a 90-day trail period. The salary for the full-time position is $25,000/year, and on-site housing is a possibility for the right candidate.
Benefits include health insurance after three months of employment, and paid vacation after six months.
Please send any inquiries regarding the position, or the requirements, and all resumes to amr@milofoundation.org.

ABOUT WORKING AT THE SANCTUARY:
The Milo Foundation is seeking people to join the animal care team up at the sanctuary. The setting is rural, (remote, removed, rustic) in the hills east of Willits, north of Ukiah, CA.
If you like vigorous physical work in an open air setting and being around dogs, LOTS of dogs... and CATS, many cats! If you have a philosophical attitude about poop...
We are looking for people who love animals, who are committed to their well-being, who enjoy working outside and are ready to get dirty. The dogs are exuberant and mostly untrained (but grateful!). The work is physically demanding, very hands-on and sometimes stressful, often rewarding. The cats are many, and varied, tame and feral. They have their own "Cat-House" and all the great outdoors... Training is provided.
You will be part of a team but will frequently work independently feeding and exercising dogs, cleaning yards and concrete areas, managing groups of dogs, and sometimes grooming and bathing or other animal related activities. You may also be trained to administer medications and keep records if you show interest and aptitude. (Over 21 years of age, a valid CDL and good driving record is required.)You must love dogs, and/or cats, be reliable, compassionate, patient, able to follow instructions and to work independently. The wage includes room, though you may choose to live in town. If you choose to live in town, you must have reliable transportation. For anyone considering relocation, a one-month trial commitment is requested for everyone's benefit.
