Name: MR POTATO HEAD Adopted: 9/2010 |
Hi Monica. Thanks for your help yesterday. We absolutely love our new little family member, who we are calling Quinn (aka Pickle). I know you must be missing him already, so we just
wanted to let you know how he was doing. You were so right about how playful he is. As soon as we got him home, Quinn was exploring around the house. He discovered our armchair, which he seems to have claimed as his preferred cat nap location. We have a stuffed
leopard doll that he liked curling up with. We got him a few toys at Pet Food Express: a wand with long felt strip which he literally flips over :), squishy balls that he can grab with his mouth and bats around the kitchen floor, an inclined scratcher with a hole in the bottom that contains a scrunchy ball attached to an elastic string. This last one we didn't even know had a toy attached but Quinn found it! When we were on our computers yesterday, Quinn just napped peacefully on the floor, but as soon as we got up and walked around he followed us curiously. He has already successfully gone to the bathroom in his new covered litter box, we
couldn't be more proud of him. We're thinking we should have named him Einstein;). Last night he slept the whole night curled up in bed with us. In the morning, around 7am, he
hopped off the bed and went and got his wand/felt toy and carried it up into the bed and meowed a little, letting me know it was time to get up and start playing. Right now he is sitting on the floor, looking peaceful as can be, and purrrrrrring.
Take care, Lydia and Brett More Photos

Name: TAZ Breed: Shepherd Mix Adopted: 2/2010 |
OMG...the cutest boyz ever!!! They just summited Twin Peak (a big mountain in
Lake Tahoe) last Sunday...there are hiking studs. Here are some shots of the
beasts. Taz is way easier to photograph b/c he sits still longer than Dennis
the Menace.
They're only downside is some minor eating issues...like our hot tub
cover...hilarious choice! We are having a blast with them. JT More Photos

Name: SCRABBLE now BODIE Breed: Australian Cattle Dog - Kelpy Mix Adopted: 5/2010 |
Hi there- We just wanted to tell you that Bodie is doing great. He has been a good
traveller this summer, joining us on all kinds of adventures. He loves hiking
and exploring! He also loves going to the dog park, where he makes friends easily. He is a lot of fun to be around because he is so smart and energetic. Very easy to train. He settles down and relaxes readily once he has had some good exercise, which is great. He has been a wonderful addition to our family.
Here are a few pictures.
Sincerely,
The Sebastian family More Photos

Name: COSMO Breed: Border Collie Mix Adopted: 10/2006 |
Attached are some recent pictures as well ... he just finished his MACH agility title and is working on his Dock Dog title now ... he's awesome, spoiled, and completely adored!
- Ashley
Hello everyone at the Milo Foundation. Cosmo has been a busy little border collie since we last corresponded and we thought you'd guys would like an update on our handsome boy. As you know we adopted him in October of 2006 and now as Cosmo approaches his third birthday (we can't believe it, two years already!) he has proven to be the most wonderful dog anyone could ask for. Everything worked out so well with him that we decided to add another dog to our family and we ended up with a border collie from the Sacramento SPCA that Cosmo has absolutely fallen head over paws in love with. Cosmo has also completed his beginning herding title with the AHBA as well as working towards his first agility title. Cosmo loves nothing more than to work for his humans and he does so with loving enthusiam every waking moment. He is a happy well adjusted young dog and we are grateful every day that your organization was around in his moment of need and are able to place such wonderful animals just like Mo. We never expected that that skinny little ten month old border collie laying down in your adoption center would end up excelling so much in canine sports and we certainly would love him no less if he hadn't, but I think it is such proof about the value of rescue dogs and how a pedigree is in no way a guarentee that you'll have 'breed perfect' dog. Anyway, Cosmo is such a spoiled rotten happy dog and we would have it no other way and we thank you yet again for the great work you do and we hope you enjoy the pictures. Everyone at the Naylor house Ashley, Brian, Layla and of course Cosmo
Hi Milo,
We just wanted to share with you some new pictures of Cosmo, since he was adopted almost six months ago!!! He has just recently started herding at a facility about twenty minutes from our house (he's on his third week, and he loves it! Finally we found something that tires him out!), as well as learning some agility commands. He's a great dog and we love having him with us! The herding trainer says he has a lot of potential and just today we had a big break through teaching him to 'back off' of the sheep instead of going for their heads, not bad for his third shot. He loves the going to the lake and swimming after his most prized possession, his soccer ball. He's also learned to love camping, and he's been on a couple of trips to half moon bay with us. Even at home he's really found his stride fitting into our schedule (he's a lucky dog cause he gets to go to work with his mom and teach the other dogs to behave themselves).
He's really grown into a magnificent dog, and we look forward to many more years with him.
Thank you so much, yet again, for the great work that you do, and for taking such good care of our 'mo-mo' (that's his herding name now!).
Sincerely Brian and Ashley More Photos

Name: AUDREY MANDARA Adopted: 3/2007 |
Update August 2010: FIRST of all, I'm so excited you remember her. We kept Mandara as her middle name: Audrey Mandara Holmes-Callahan. :) heehee I hope it's okay that I
attached photos. She is the absolute SWEETEST kitty, and is still as soft as an
angora bunny. It's like her super-power. She loves playing with rubber bands -
we shoot them down the hall. She also still loves to nose-dives under your hand
to make you pet her. That's what stole our hearts when we FIRST met her.
I'll talk to my husband. Perhaps we'll come by on Sunday to see the male
kitties. I have a feeeeeeeling she'd be accepting of it. She really wanted to
get close to our other cat, but was intimidated by her and the friendly gestures
weren't reciprocated. She's also still really silly and playful, so maybe a
younger cat will be perfect. We shall see.
Ultimately, is your opinion that it's best for cats to live with another cat,
than to be a single cat? I feel bad that we are gone 40 hours a week and she's
alone. She does play during that time, as her toys are moved around, but I know
that's not quite the same thing.
:)
~Holly
I just wanted to give an update on Mandara.
She is working out wonderfully in our home, as if she's lived there for months. She started exploring as soon as she could and is comfortable sleeping on our bed, couch, in the window, on the toilet seat...
I attached a photo that I took on Monday - her first full day in her new home.
She is SO loveable and is extremely calm when our other cat approaches her, growling. I don't think they have had any physical contact, but my other cat is getting used to her by showing who's boss. Mandara seems like she's doing everything she was told to do in that manual she read about how to blend with new cats in their environment. It really seems like she's going "by the book." :)
Anyway, we love her and she loves us. It seems to be working out very well so far.
Thank you.
~Holly More Photos
