MILO SANCTUARY WATER PROJECT UNDER WAY!!!

PLEASE HELP US ENSURE THAT THE ANIMALS AT OUR SANCTUARY HAVE PLENTY OF WATER THIS SUMMER!

Pictured below is our friendly contractor, Pete, on his backhoe. Pete is hard at work getting new water pipes in, and upgrading the paths to our dog yards in the hills of Milo's sanctuary. This work is to provide the water and access that will enrich and improve the lives of the Milo dogs, volunteers, and caretakers, at our sanctuary in Mendocino County. We are making progress, but there is still a lot to do to make sure that we do not go through another long, hot summer without sufficient water! We still need to hook up the well, and get a new strong pump to push the water up to our tanks on the hills.

With your help, we can have large troughs for the dogs, and plenty of water to drink and keep cool! IN PREPARATION, DONATIONS OF KIDDY-WADING POOLS HAPPILY ACCEPTED!

Please donate to help us save more lives, and keep the sanctuary residents and visitors well-watered and comfortable this summer!

Further updates soon!

We need YOUR help as a foster home to help save more lives!

We ALWAYS need foster homes, for moms and pups, kitties, dogs, and of course we need adopters too!  Short term foster homes are needed, as the critters wait to be shown at mobile events for adoption.  This is a great way to enjoy the fun, companionship, and unconditional love, without the lifetime commitment.  If you can help, please e-mail info@milofoundation.org.

Do you love animals and the outdoors?

Join us for a volunteer weekend up at the Milo Animal Sanctuary in Mendocino County. The sanctuary has 283 beautiful acres and there are more than 200 animals (dogs and cats) who live there at any given time.
We started monthly volunteer weekends in the fall of 2007 and will continue hosting throughout 2008.

Please be ready to roll up your sleeves and pitch in.  You may get hot, you will get dirty. But it's lots of fun, too! There will be time to socialize with the animals and walk dogs as well.

We usually work  from 10-6 on Saturday and 8-4 on Sunday. The Sanctuary is about 2 1/2 hours from Marin or 3 from the city/east bay. It is a beautiful time of year to visit! - and help~!

EMAIL ALICIA FOR MORE INFO: amr@milofoundation.org

PLEASE VISIT OUR NEW Milo sanctuary website!! http://www.milosanctuary.org

The mission of the Milo Foundation is to rescue adoptable at-risk animals, match them to homes best suited to provide lifetime care, rehabilitate those who need it, offer sanctuary to those who are not placed, and educate the public about responsible pet guardianship, including spay/neuter.

JOEY JOEY HAS LANDED BACK IN THE BAY AREA - he is getting ready to find his "Forever Home!"

"Joey is a bouncy, exuberant and loving dog, with emphasis on the bouncy. He may be a lab/shepherd mix with the biggest bear paws I have ever seen!

I have been fostering Joey for about two months now after he came down to the Bay Area from the sanctuary in Willits. The Bay Area is pretty different, and Joey is still adjusting to the sounds and sights of the city. He is not used to seeing so many people but is doing great. He will need to be adopted to a home that understands this and will work with him on it. He is nervous in big crowds of people right now, and can get very frightened. He is not aggressive and would run away if he could when in big crowds of people. From what I have seen of Joey with my own dogs, when challenged Joey will run, and avoids confrontation with other dogs. He will readily play, but doesn’t fight back, and always encounters other dogs on our walks with a relaxed and friendly greeting. Joey gets along with my two dogs, and is so sweet with my cats. He gives them kisses when they do interact, but for the most part totally ignores them. He is highly food motivated, which is great for training. The commands he knows now include sit and shake, and we are working on stay and leave it. He is very curious about everything, and will need to be supervised in your home to make sure he is not getting into mischief.

Joey is one of the sweetest dogs I have ever met, and is going to make a very special, loyal and loving pet for someone. "
